Highlights

The edict of 10th March 2010 was published in the DOGC (Official Journal of the Government of Catalonia) on 15th March, opening the public consultation period for the decree project to provide public passenger road and rail transport benefits to single-parent families and large families.

In order to foster citizen participation in the drafting process of this legislative project, the public will have an opportunity to examine the text of the decree project for a period of 20 working days starting on 16th March. The project concerns reduced prices for public passenger road and rail transport for single-parent families and large families and will be published along with a report and other supporting documentation in accordance with that stipulated in article 64 of Law 13/1989 of 14th December on the organisation, procedure and legal system of the Administration of the Government of Catalonia.

The highlights of the decree project include:

Purpose

The purpose of this decree is to define the benefits applicable to members of single-parent families and large families who make use of regular public passenger road and rail transport services under the authority of the Government of Catalonia.

Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries of the project are recognised and accredited members of single-parent families and large families in accordance with that established in Decree 151/2009 of 29th September, which partially implements Law 18/2003 of 4th July on support for families.

Discounts

Applicable discounts on individual tickets for the beneficiaries of the plan are the following:

a) Single-parent or large families in the general category: 20% discount.

b) Single-parent or large families in the special category: 50% discount.

The discounts established in this article will also be applied to the price of any personalised monthly or quarterly tickets offered by companies providing regular passenger road transport services under the authority of the Government of Catalonia.
