New bus line to connect Falset and Marçà train station (01/07/2010)

Today, 1st July, the government put a new bus line into service to improve links between the municipalities of Marçà and Falset and access to the Marçà-Falset train station. This will add 16 journeys from Monday through Friday, 8 outgoing and 8 return, and 14 journeys at weekends, 7 outgoing and 7 return. The measure will receive annual funding of 68,000 euros, paid for by the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Works (DPTOP) (55,000 euros) and by the municipalities of Falset (10,000 euros) and Marçà (2,500 euros).

Improvements in the Priorat public transport network

The DPTOP and the municipalities of Falset and Marçà have added a new bus line to improve public transport service between different points in the two municipalities and the Marçà-Falset train station in Marçà.

The aim of this new service is to encourage passengers to combine the use of bus and train services and to improve access to the train network, which provides connections to the capitals and main cities of the territory: Mora d’Ebre, Reus, Tarragona and Barcelona. In keeping with this goal, departure and arrival times have been based on and coordinated with train timetables to avoid long waits for train passengers.

The line will also help to improve public transport service in the region of Priorat, specifically between the region’s capital, Falset, and the municipality of Marçà.

This action has been implemented in accordance with the directives of the 2008-2012 Passenger Transport Plan of Catalonia approved by the government to promote the introduction of measures to facilitate the use of various modes of transport and thus increase the use of public transport.
